I cant help but notice in the photo at the top of the forum you are all different sizes and are wearing shirts and trousers[pants]that are not all the same colour.
Whats uniform about that?
I think you are taking liberties with history and are not showing enough toadying or offering enough ass kissing platitudes towards veterans, real or imaginary.

We never had them? Tough, you should have saved up or as the modern folk do pinched some.
You dont wear/hold it like that? Yes I do, you might not have but this is easier and looks way cooler.
We never used tents or had a bath? Any mug can rough it. Check into a travel lodge on the saturday night. You can still go to the beer tent or better a local pub where you can slag off the other in warmth.
