the "Champagne Campaign" Empty the "Champagne Campaign"

We've just returned from Southern France after tracing the path of the Force from the Iles des Heyeres to the Italian border. One thing we always remarked upon was how little was ever discussed about this campaign. On making the trip, I see why it was discusssed very little. It appeared to me that the whole campaign was a bit of a road race between the Force advancing and the germans retreating. One town looks like another and all the roads are so similar. No wonder the vets said so little about it. They were probably so tired of seeing repetition all the time. It was much different than the Italian campaign with both mountain fighting and Anzio.
